ACSDA’s 18th General Assembly
2016 marked the 2nd time ACSDA’s members from Argentina have been host to ACSDA’s General Assembly in the country’s capital, having previously hosted the Assembly in March of 2004.
The event, which was held over 3 days, beginning with a working session of the ACSDA Executive Committee on the morning of Monday May 16 during which representatives from ACSDA’s member CSDs gathered to discuss ideas for the Work Plan for the Association. On Monday afternoon the “Official” General Assembly took place where the membership met to conduct the business of the Association and which included a review of activities over the past year and a discussion of plans and priorities going forward. There was a welcome reception for all delegates on Monday evening generously sponsored by our partners from SWIFT. Members and guests of the Assembly took advantage of the opportunity to renew longstanding acquaintances and establish new ones.
The event opened up to guests during Tuesday and Wednesday. The program included a range of panels on a wide range of subjects including; Technological Evolution, New Business Initiatives, CSD Capitalization, the Implications of Distributed Ledger Technology (Blockchain) for CSDs, Risk Management, Cyber security and much more.
Tuesday evening marked the occasion of ACSDA’s Gala Dinner, which was sponsored by Euroclear and held in the Great Hall of the Stock Exchange. A traditional Tango Show followed a great meal.
Following a full program on Wednesday, Clearstream hosted a grand closing event for delegates at the Palermo Hipódromo (Racetrack) where guests had an opportunity to experience the great tradition of horseracing in Argentina in a wonderful surrounding.
ACSDA wishes to thank all those who participated in the event and also all of our sponsors without whom it would not be possible to have an event of this caliber.
Next year’s General Assembly (ACSDA’s 19th) will be held in La Paz, Bolivia and will be hosted by Entidad de Depósito de Valores de Bolivia S.A. (EDV).
